Southern County Fishing Resort encourages both fly fishing and bait fishing but be mindful that each lake requires different fishing skills and provides different challenges to the angler. Also our newly opened club house accommodates a tackle shop for all your fly, bait, rod hire and sale. Southern County Fishing Resort prides itself on the quality of our fish, our lake are stocked on regular basis with fish approximately 2lbs weight. All of our fish are reared in our onsite hatchery farm. Fish size range from 1 lb to 8 lbs in weight and on average are 3 /4lbs.

This angling facility is a 4-acre lake located in Aughrim. Co Wicklow. It is fully stocked with trout and surrounded by an attractive wildlife area. Car parking and toilet facilities are wheelchair accessible. The National Disabled Angling Facility is licensed for all year round trout fishing and is open daily to visitors from 8.00am to 8.00pm in summer and 9.00am to 5.00pm in winter.

Rathlahine Trout Angling, Co. Clare

The 15 acre natural lake is stocked with Rainbow and Brown Trout. Sizes vary from 1lb to 6 lbs.The lake is stocked regularly to ensure that there is high quality fishing throughout the year. The Lake Depth varies from 5-31 Ft. Fly fishing and barbless hook spinning are the methods of fishing allowed. Fishing is from Dawn to Dusk each day. Bookings are necessary for weekday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays.

Wavin Lake, Co. Dublin

Wavin lake (formerly known as the Knock lake) was taken over by the Gormanstown District Anglers club in 1993. The small lake covers an area of approximately 26 acres. The lake is quite shallow with an average depth of 6-7 feet, with a couple of 12 foot holes.

The lake is a rainbow trout fishery and is open all year around. Fishing can be difficult in June, July and August due to weed growth. There is no bait fishing allowed on the Wavin lake at all and the club promotes fly fishing. (limited spinning is allowed on the east bank, with single barbless hooks). The bag limit is 3 fish and day passes are available.

Lyreen Angling Centre, Maynooth, Co Kildare

Lyreen Angling Centre is set in the surrounds of the rich Kildare country side. 25 minutes from Dublin and beside the Main Galway road (N4). Ran by proprietors Mick Walsh and Darren Whelan, the Fishery consists of 3 Lakes and access to two rivers, the Lyreen and the Rye.

The facility caters for Game, Coarse, and Carp anglers, and in season river fly fishing for Wild Brown Trout that have been landed to 3.lb weight. Fly fish the two acre game lake for Rainbow Trout to 22 lb.

The Curragh Springs Fishery, Co. Kildare

Curragh springs Fishery
This little known gem lies hidden away among the rolling plains of the Curragh in Co. Kildare. It is a natural spring fed lake covering approximately five acres and contains gin clear water. It was first stocked with top class rainbow trout five years ago and it has only recently opened up to anglers. A visit to the Curragh Springs Fishery is a must for serious anglers. It is a fly fishing only venue and barb-less hooks must be used when fishing this lake. Rathbeggan Lakes, Co Meath

Rathbeggan Lakes are located just 10 minutes from Dublin’s M50 motorway. The Fishery consists of 5 lakes including two mature fly fishing lakes covering 8 acres regularly stocked with rainbow and brown trout for the game angler. Castlecomer is situated 15km north of Kilkenny on the N78 Kilkenny/Dublin road From the centre of town you head towards Dublin, go over the bridge and the 200m on your left you will see the main iron gates for The Castlecomer Demesne.

This fishery is located 4 miles from Edenderry, Co Offaly on the Tullamore Road. Lough Aishling consists of a 7 acre trout lake and a 4 acre coarse lake with tench, bream, roach, rudd and carp. The trout lake is fly-fishing only with rainbows to 20lb in weight.

Finnegan’s Lake is a 4.5 acre Fly Fishery located just 10 mins from the town of Tuam. The water is extremely clear as it is spring fed. The Meadows Trout Fishery, Co, Donegal

The Meadows is 2 acre stream fed lake situated on the beautiful Fanad Peninsula 30 minutes from Letterkenny in Co. Donegal. The lake is regularly stocked with rainbow trout from 2lb to 10 lbs. Lough na Tooey, Creeslough, Co Donegal.

A natural alkaline lough (15 acres) with great feeding which was first stocked in 2006. The rainbow trout have now naturalised into hard fighing wild fish, with powerful fins and tails. Boat and fly fishing; catch and release encouraged but a limit can be taken. Open all year; Tickets and keys at Filling Station, Creeslough.

Corkagh Park Fishery, Co. Dublin

Corkagh Park Fishery is located at the back of Corkagh Park in Clondalkin. There are two lakes-a coarse lake and a trout lake. The coarse lake is approximately 4 acres and the trout lake 3.5 acres. The lakes are fed by a local river-the Camac- which runs alongside them and branches off into each.

Ballin Lough, Co. Mayo

Ballin Lough is a rich limestone lake of 22 hectares located 2 miles North of Westport, which has earned a reputation as a fine rainbow trout fishery. A high proportion of the stock is introduced to the lake as fry and the fish grow on naturally to produce superb quality trout to the rod. The trout in Ballin Lough offer excellent sport, in that they fight hard and present an enjoyable challenge to catch. Bumble, Nymph and Damselfly patterns work well. The lake has a number of boats for hire, a car park, jetty, angler's shelter and toilet. Ballin Lough closes on October 31.
