Mayfly Update 21 May 2010

mayfly

The weather is changing; winds coming around to the west and bringing rain with them. Still a bit cold but due to warm up as southerlies move in.

Lough Arrow

21/05/10 Huge hatches during the day. Good wetfly fishing and a good fall of spinners. The lake is fishing into dark with dry and spent patterns. Some nice big fish to be taken.

Lough Corrib

21/05/10 A nice day on the lake with fish coming to dry Olives. Dry mayflies more productive at Cong end. Very calm so no wetfly or dapping til this changes.

Lough Mask

21/05/10 Not much to report today. Very calm so no wetfly or dapping til this changes.

Lough Carra

21/05/10 Very calm so no wetfly or dapping til this changes.
Kevin Crowley,
Western Region

Lough Derg

21/05/10 Fishing has improved. Though the southerly breeze was a bit much in places yesterday.
Peter Gleeson,
Nenagh Guardian.

Lough Conn

21/05/10 Northern end still out fishing the south. Fishing a little patchy but this weekend should be very good.
Markus Mueller,
North Western Region

Lough Erne

20/05/10 Loads of fly and spent on the water. And hundreds of daddy-long-legs out there too. Trout not interested in any of it.
Frankie McPhillips
Flytying and Fishing Tackle
Enniskillen.

Ennel and Owel

20/05/10 Not many mayfly on Ennel or Owel and the best fishing is on Olives for now.
Mick Flanagan

Lough Ree

20/05/10 Not much to say about Ree for now. Patchy hatches.
