    Ballinasloe coarse Angling Centre

    2004

Ballinasloe town is located in Co Galway about 40 miles from Galway City and 60 miles from Shannon Airport. It is on the River Suck an important and profile coarse and pike angling centre where bait, tackle and all other angling services and specialist accommodation is available.

    WHERE TO FISH

There are several renowned angling stretches on the lower River Suck known to provide very good coarse angling. In addition, the river is classified as a very important Pike angling water and regularly returns large catches of pike to visiting anglers, but what’s particularly important is the size of fish it produces. Specimen size fish of 20lbs+ are common and occasionally fish in excess of 30lbs are recorded every year on a number of stretches. The fishery area described on this guide extends from Athleague to the north of Ballinasloe downstream to Correen Ford, a  distance of about 12 to 15 miles. Each of these stretches is within about 15 – 20 minutes drive from the town centre. See also the RIVER SUCK VALLEY and SHANNONBRIDGE ANGLING CENTRE.

A permit is required for the River Suck. This can be bought online.
